For students unable to find internships in their areas, PCT offers a virtual simulation kit (VSK), which they can use to perform venipuncture.

ECG Technician

The course introduces students to basic nursing care, and they will learn:

  • Cardiology
  • Electrocardiography
  • 12 Lead ECG
  • HIPAA
  • Emergency procedures
  • Resident rights, and more through video lectures using various multimedia

At the end of the course, students will become expert ECG technicians who can fully understand Electrocardiogram Lead Tracings.

As an ECG Technician clinical core requirement, students must complete 40 hours of live EKGs observation, each supervised and signed off, to graduate from this course.

IV Technician

Becoming an IV technician requires certification, and PCT offers it with the online Medical Assistant Tier III program. Through this course, the students will learn the intravenous insertion and flushing technique, its basic principles, appropriate venipuncture intravenous therapy sites, preparation of intravenous therapy equipment, intravenous line establishment techniques, and other related safety hazards related to venipuncture.

IV Technicians are not required to submit an internship video because they will already perform it in their phlebotomy training in the Medical Assistant Tier II Course.
